About the Author Sheila Turnage grew up on a farm in eastern North Carolina. A graduate of East Carolina University, she authored two nonfiction books and one picture book before she started writing about Mo LoBeau and Dale. Three Times Lucky is a Newbery Honor book, a New York Times bestseller, an Edgar Award Finalist, an E. B. White Read-Aloud Honor book, and was included on seven Best Book of the Year lists. The Ghosts of Tupelo Landing, the follow-up to Three Times Lucky, is also a New York Times bestseller and has so far garnered five starred reviews. Today Sheila lives on a farm with her husband, a dozen chickens, and a flock of guineas.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Great book - ready for the next one. By phoenix becky I have really enjoyed all three books in the series! Mo and Dale are great characters, and their help is critical for keeping crime off the streets in Tupelo Landing. In the descriptions of some of the places around town, I think the author assumed we would look at the map. However, in In the digital edition, the map of the town is at the very end and there's no advance notice. I didn't find it til I hit the last page. It would have made some scenes easier to follow. I guess I'll just have to read all three books again, while we wait for Mo and Dale's next adventure - and I'm looking forward to that.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Desperado Detectives, hurry up with another book! By Kristin Nielsen-Drake I have quickly become a Sheila Turnage fan! I loved this book, as I did her others. She has an amazing capacity to weave humor, good story and stunning metaphoric language throughout her books. She is right up there with my other fav, Sharon Creech!I originally read her first book as a 4th grade teacher always on the look out for good reads for students, but I have since retired and wait patiently for MYSELF for her next book to come out. Love the characters too. They are like my friends!
