About the Author

Jep Robertson is the youngest son of Phil and Kay Robertson. Jep grew up in the duck blind and utilizes these years of experience in his role as cameraman and editor for the family busi­ness. Jep is able to think like a hunter behind the camera and, therefore, captured excellent footage for the Duckmen DVD series. Previously, he also videoed footage for the Benelli Presents Duck Commander TV show. 

Jep continues with the goal his father began years ago, to bring the “Duckmen style” of hunting out of the swamps, into the editing room, and into the homes of duck hunting enthusiasts around the world. Making his film debut in Duckmen X stoked Jep’s passion for capturing his fam­ily’s hunts on camera. That title remains his favorite Duckmen DVD to date. Jep and his family also star in A&E’s hit series, Duck Dynasty. 

Jessica Robertson and Jep have been married for more than fourteen years. As Jep’s wife, Jessica fits right in with the family. As a child she grew up hunting on the weekends with her father in the woods of Louisiana. She and Jep met in 2001, and they were mar­ried within two weeks of announcing their engagement. Jessica also has a business background, as do many in the Robertson family, but not from working at Duck Commander. She previously worked in real estate as a licensed real estate agent and most recently worked in sales. 

Jep and Jessica live in West Monroe, Louisiana with their four children: Lily, Merritt, Priscilla, and River.

 

 

Susy Flory is the author or coauthor of eight books, including the New York Times bestseller Thunder Dog. She lives in California and is the director of the West Coast Christian Writers Conference.

"The Good, the Bad and the Grace of God" By Yeslech "The Good, the Bad, and the Grace of God -- What Honesty and Pain Taught Us about Faith, Family and Forgiveness" by Jep and Jessica Robertson (of Duck Dynasty) with Susy Flory... Reading this book is like being invited to Jep and Jess' for a backyard bonfire and some great conversation. (How fun would that be!)There is something that everyone can find to relate to in this book -- whether it's feeling insecure, keeping secrets, questions about God and Faith, addictions or divorce. And because Jep and Jess are so honest in telling their stories you begin to feel a kinship with them.This book gives insight into the personal triumphs and struggles of Jep and Jessica throughout their lives. Funny stories about sibling relationships or hunting trips are interspersed with stories about the strong bonds of family and painful stories of love and betrayal.So many people struggle with the idea that they are beyond God's love. Jep and Jessica talk about their insecurities and their realization that God loves us as we are -- even with all our secrets and sins.Jep says in the book: "As I looked at God's Word with fresh eyes, I realized that repenting and turning to God meant I was saved and forgiven. Good Honest Read By Read for Life I remember hearing about the Duck Dynasty TV Show a few years before I was even remotely interested in watching it. I thought it must be the dumbest show ever and left it at that. But a year or so ago when we had 6 months of free cable, hubby and I sat down regularly in the evening to watch a few episodes of this show. And surprisingly, it gave me what I needed... a good laugh. I mean, it's such a crazy show. Just watching that family interact and listening to some of the hilarious, silly conversations was just good medicine for one who often thinks too much about serious stuff. Who doesn't need a good belly laugh now and then?When The Good, the Bad, and the Grace of God by the youngest Robertson son Jep and his wife Jessica, came available for review, I snapped it up. It was a quick, interesting read. It gave me some good insights into the Robertson family, and I have gained respect for this clan and their fierce loyalty to each other. As I began this book, I thought it might be very simplistic and 'surfacey' and I thought I'd have a difficult time empathizing with what I thought of as wealthy reality TV stars and their first world problems, but it really was a transparent and honest read, which included sharing some very difficult experiences. The Robertson's strong faith in the grace of God and the power of forgiveness shines through. This family is not a religious family as much as one which truly loves God and people and shows it by their actions.It's worth the few hours it took to read this book. And you may become a Duck Dynasty fan after reading! I hear there's a new season starting!Thanks to BookLookBloggers for this free book in exchange for an honest review.

So much Grace and Love By Itsy Bitsy Book Bits *ARC given for an honest reviewPretty much if you have lived anywhere in the world, especially in the United States you have heard of Jep & Jessica Robertson, part of the Duck Dynasty family. If you haven’t heard of them you may be living under a rock and should get out moreIn their debut book The Good, The Bad, and the Grace of God, Jep & Jessica share their personal stories. Jessica was always kind of a tom-boy and came from a family where hunting and outdoor activities were important. She pushed herself, worked hard, and tried to excel at everything she did. However, it was because in her core she found her self-worth by pleasing other people. She felt if she worked hard enough, got good enough grades, made perfect attendance, than she was worthy of being loved. Sometimes she would go so overboard it would actually do more damage than good. In her quest to be perfect she was easily influenced by those around her and made life decisions pertinent to what others wanted. Sometimes she made decisions she felt were a mistake like getting married, but was so consumed with the fear of letting people down she did it anyway. While she eventually walked away from her first marriage it left her scarred and feeling that she wasn’t worthy of anything good because she had failed.Jep Robertson, as the baby of the family was just trying to figure out his place in the family and in the world. There is such a huge age difference between him and his brothers that he spent many years searching for who he was. Was it following in his dad’s footsteps with football? Was it being a basketball star? Or was it simply just making sure he was Miss Kay’s true favorite son? He searched in all the wrong places which including drugs, alcohol, and porn. He was once engaged but it didn’t work out.When Jep and Jess first encountered each other they were both smitten but each was at a low point in life both wanting to be loved and accepted. This is the story of how each of them came into their own, how they each realized they were worth it, and how they each found their true love and relationship with God. They had struggles in their own lives and their married lives. They had fears, let downs, ups, hope, and faith. Through it all they had the love and support of their friends and family. This isn’t a story about perfection or being up on a pedestal. The story was so raw, and they shared their most intimate successes and failures. As the reader I was able to see who they truly are, not just who we see in a 30 minute tv show. I appreciated their honesty, humor, and sincerity.
