About the Author Andrea E. Paul is a 20-something recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder. After being prescribed the antidepressant, Prozac for depression and anxiety, Andrea knew something wasn't quite right. But, as her doctors told her, "it doesn't work unless you work it." So she allowed time to let the medication do its thing so she could be seen as a compliant patient and client. Andrea wrote The Black Girl on Prozac as a diary to keep track of her feelings an moods. Once she realized this was an entry into helping others come to terms with mental disorders, publishing her thoughts was the next, natural step. Andrea wanted to provide an uncensored look into the thoughts of someone dealing with mental illness. Based on her experience, Andrea decided to pursue a Masters degree in Counseling in order to further help those like herself, come to accept their diagnosis and learn the best ways to cope.
