I honestly don't eat too bad but I have a slow thyroid and I sometimes have a hard time with portion control. After just a few days on the 5:2 diet I felt AMAZING! I was full of energy and felt thinner. After just 1 week I lost 3lbs ... which for me is a HUGE deal! The following week I lost 2! Since then I've been steadily loosing about 1.5-2.5lbs a week. The fasting days aren't as hard as you would think, not easy, but def doable. For example on a fast day I'll usually have:Coffee w/2tbsp of TJ's soy creamer = 30 caloriesWhen the hunger gets too bad I'll have a hard boiled egg = 70 caloriesFor Lunch I'll have a salad of 5 strawberries cut up in 1.5 cups spinach w/2tbsp Bolthouse Farms creamy balsamic dressing = 70Coffee w/2tbsp of TJ's soy creamer = 30 caloriesFor a snack I'll have 25 Pistachios = 100 caloriesFor Dinner I'll have a TJ's Mahi Burger over shredded cabbage with a little salsa and a mix of 1tbsp TJ's dill jalapeno tartar sauce and 1 tbsp plain yogurt for a really yummy low calorie dressing = 155 caloriesFor Dessert I'll either have 45 calories worth of fruit OR a low fat fudgesicle pop (15 calories over budget but its worth it sometimes)Snacking on 0 calorie pickles and drinking things like 0 calorie seltzer and iced fruity teas are very helpful as well! I usually go to bed dreaming of all the things I'm going to eat the next day but then when I wake up I no longer want those things and some how I wind up making really good choices. And I find that less food seems to fill me up then before doing this diet. Also the day after the fast is usually when I feel my best so I try to think about that during the fast days. Somehow this diet teaches you discipline when it comes to food, something that I needed.But I've tried many different diets in my time and this one works for me! I love that for most of the week I do not have to think about calories and I can go out with my friends and order what I want. I find that I still lose weight even with eating out, drinking alcohol and eating fried foods as long as I don't eat to the point where I feel really full.I haven't tried any recipes in this book yet but I'll update when I do ..
