About the Author In the 1990s, Hou Hee Chan Laoshi and his brother Luke Chan were among the first teachers to officially introduce Zhineng Qigong, a medical Qigong famous in China for healing thousands with "incurable" diseases, to students in the United States. They named their organization Chilel (meaning Qi Therapy) Qigong with the approval of Dr. Pang Ming, founder and grandmaster of Zhineng Qigong. Drawing from over 40 years of training and practice in Taiji and Qigong and his background as an engineer, the hallmark of Chan Laoshi’s teaching is his ability to explain to his students HOW and WHY a movement is performed in terms that they are able to understand. Chan Laoshi's philosophy is that Qigong is not something that is mysterious. He defines Qigong as "physical therapy or exercise with mindfulness.” Qigong is what we practice once we become aware of our body and aware of how we move our body. To complement the physical forms of Qigong, he teamed up with Eva Lew, M.D. who provides insights into the mental and emotional parts of Qigong practice as well as the relationship of Qigong to Western Medicine. Their collaboration resulted in the release of "Medicine Begins with Me: a Holistic Approach to Healthcare.” This program is designed to train healthcare providers as well as the general public in effective, easy to learn Qigong techniques.

This a significant work on the writings of Dr. Pang Ming, interpreted skillfully by an accomplished and experienced communicator and teacher. This work gives one of the best and clearest presentations available of Dr. Pang's writings. The book gives the technical and cultural nuances that would normally take the Western student years of study before understanding. The book is a scholarly work covering the depth and breadth of qigong in general and more specifically the open system of Zhineng Qigong. It serves as an invaluable reference work for students and teachers by providing insight gained by many years in the teaching of the methods. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone wishing to deepen their practice.

EXCELLENT By Amazon Customer Master Chan's decision to interpret Dr. Pangs writings rather than translate them word for word makes for a much clearer understanding. I thought this book was excellent. I recommend it to anyone interested in Zhineng Qigong (or Che Lel Qigong).

The author explains and interpreted the concepts and methods of Zhineng Qigong clearly and faithfully.I love that the Chinese characters are included for key terms in the book. It is a big help.

By missmickee/bookreview "The Candid Failures of a Wannabe Somebody: A Memoir About Depression" authored by Ava Falls is an deeply articulate, meaningful, reflection of inner thought process and commentary of recent developments in her life. Not written in a typical memoir format style recalling life events, parents, friends, childhood etc. I nearly passed on this offering with the odd unflattering cover photo and drawn out title, but found it a surprisingly good quick read.Originally from North Carolina, Fails relocated to Las Vegas, where she had a few good jobs, a boyfriend, and things were looking up for awhile, until they seemed to fall apart and her relationship ended. Burdened with student loan debt, and no completed college degree, she found it difficult to support herself. So many struggle with economic hardship without taking into account outside forces beyond their control largely contribute to their plight.Fails was extremely hard on herself, which combined with her depressive nature, she was motivated to use therapeutic writing to further her healing process. Ava Fails has written several non-fiction titles, she is also a novelist, blogger, and experienced copywriter. Photo included. I wish her well.

This author disclosed her failures and disappointments sothat others could realize they may not be alone. Very brave to do. I too, realized after reading thisbook that I am not alone in my daily struggles in life. Such a candid, down to earth book. I love theway the author doesn't sugarcoat a thing, and is honest and truthful in regards to herself. A must readfor anyone!

Refreshingly Open and Honest By Allie This is a soul-baring look at one person's struggle with depression specifically, but also with life in general. Although very personal, it is easy to see parts of my own story within these lines. Knowing you aren't alone doesn't fix everything, but it does help add some much-needed perspective.

The book, "Timmy Failure, Sanitized for your Protection," is action-packed, and (in my opinion) is better than the other three in the series. I recommend this book to people who like "Diary of a Wimpy kid," and "Big Nate."

A Laugh For An Odd Life By Miss Nikki Ann I had my 10-yr-old son read this aloud for homeschool, and there were moments when we could not stop laughing. Timmy is a funny and quirky character who loves using big words, which were a nice challenge for my son.I'm bedridden and homeschool my son from my sick-bed; our home life is as quirky as Timmy's personally. We needed a good laugh and a relatable character, and Timmy did not disappoint.

Even as someone who is not a huge fan of boxing and mma I still found the stories interesting and it gave me a new respect for some of Ohio's best fighters. You don't find out until after purchase that the author has unclear sketches (not photos) and uses a specific brand of swing not a simple yoga hammock. Without the additional accessories of that brand most of the book is useless. Would be best if the author acknowledged this before purchase.

This book was a helpful refresher. Some of the poses were things I hadn't seen before. Some I don't feel comfortable teaching, because they could be potentially dangerous depending on student abilities.If you're interested in Aerial Yoga I recommend finding a studio and a teacher. This book is good for those who have some basic training or are interested in learning before their first class. It is by no means comprehensive, it doesn't have anything about hammock installation or types of hammocks.

Peter and his father are moving to a new house beyond the dark unfriendly woods. When they arrive at their new home, Peter wants to turn back. From School Library Journal PreS-Gr 2—Peter and his dog Harold are unhappy to find themselves on a journey with their dad through the dark woods on their way to a new home. Peter thinks the move is a terrible idea and if Harold weren't a dog, even he would do something about it. However, the decision has been made and Peter strongly dislikes the ominous looking trees that sit waiting darkly across the wooden bridge by the new house. The woods could be filled with terrible creatures. That first night, Peter and Harold cannot sleep. The next day, Peter takes action by creating a watchman, Lenny, out of pillows and blankets to guard the bridge. This is better, but something is still not quite right. Lenny needs a friend. So Peter and Harold create Lucy and the four become fast friends, making the home by the woods not so bad after all. Then they welcome Millie, who lives next door and likes looking for owls. This timeless story of a boy using his imagination to cope with loss and acclimate to a new environment is sure to draw in readers of all ages. The text is wonderfully imaginative and the mysterious nature of the woods lends feelings of excitement and intrigue. The illustrations perfectly match the mood of the tale, with the backgrounds created in cold grayscale and the characters popping to life with warm oranges, greens, and blues. Peter finds himself in a new house on the other side of the woods. He can't sleep for fear of what might come out of the woods. Using pillows, he build himself a Guardian of the Woods and names him Lenny. Worried that his new friend might be lonely, he build another pillow friend, named Lucy. The new house starts to feel like a home. Especially when he finally meets Millie who lives next door and has binoculars that everyone can share. The illustrations are wonderful, the story a delight. I could read this book many, many times.

I have been hearing about diffusers, aromatherapy and different benefits for quite awhile. I was totally ignorant on the oils until I read this book. It is short, concise, easy to understand and well written. I really appreciated the portion on the benefits of each oil. It also includes where to buy and how to store the oils.One that really surprised me was the cinnamon. Who knew? With mosquito season right around the corner, am off to get some...All in all, a fascinating book for me and a great introduction. I just scanned through the author's page and the one on Alzheimer's caught my attention. Will order that one next.Most highly recommended.

This book is full of great information on essential oils and what each kind does. There are many ideas inside on how to make facial and hair products with these essential oils. This is a great beginners guide, I have learned so much and I highly recommend this book!

This one shows proper safety, stresses essential oil dilution, and has a few recipes in the back. Nice read!

The author has explained in detail why and how they are used. She also tells the reader what they may expect when using them. I also like the fact that she says to see you healthcare professional before embarking on this type of remedy.Some of the ones covered are: Aloe Vera, Echinacea, ginger, peppermint, bitter melon and garlic. Having lived in Spain for 10 years while in the USN, garlic became one of my favorite additions while there. I never ate it while growing up as my dad didn't like the smell or the taste of it. Needless to say while in Spain I truly became a lover of garlic and still eat it nearly every day. And, although some Spaniards are heavy I have never heard of one having a heart attack. Enough of my personal story..The one that really caught my attention in this book was the treatment for arthritis using ginger. Seeing how this is my first foray into the world of herbal remedies ginger will be on my shopping list. I will not take any prescription medicine for my arthritis. Am sure this will alleviate some of the symptoms that I have.All in all, a most informative book and I will definitely look for more books by this author. And, will be back to update this after I have tried the ginger for a month or so.Most highly recommended.

The author explains the use of herbs dating back to Mesopotamia, as well as, the Native American Indians. Herbology is popular in China too.Specific herbs are discussed like garcinia, ginger, garlic, echinacea, bitter melon and many others. Personally, this reviewer has found chamomile tea to be helpful for sleep/relaxation while tumeric has been helpful for inflammation. There are specific blood markers for inflammation measurement like the C-reactive protein.Overall, this is a wonderful book which explains herbs very nicely. The book is a solid value at the current low price. The presentation is brief and to the point!

Each herbs comes with their own brief overview and their most useful benefit. Then, the author further listed common ailments along with possible herbal remedies that can be used to treat them. If you fly a lot, you know how stiff your body can get, especially after a long flight. This book offers a lot of helpful tips for stretching and keeping your body "right" during flights of any length. I practice yoga often, and I found the poses in this book to be perfect for small spaces ... lots of creative suggestions. This is definitely a good book to have on your Kindle or whatever tablet you use when flying.

When I have limited time I just pick my favorites. It’s neat to notice how your different body parts feel after each exercise. You can feel the blood and oxygen circulating. I got this book for travel but I use these exercises a lot in the office when I need a good refresher.The design, order and layout of the book are very clean, simple and professionally done. This makes the book easy to follow and nice to look at. For example each exercise is on a page to itself. Some images have tasteful directional arrows added in for clarity and if there are multiple photos to a stretch they are numbered. Once you’re familiar with the directions you can use the pictures as cliffs notes instead of reading every time.I think this book is much more practical than other “airplane” or travel yoga books in that it actually takes into account the small amount of space you’ll have and the need to be courteous to the people who are sitting next to you.I really like that this book uses pictures of an actual person as opposed to illustrations. The design and organization of the book are clean and professionally done which make it nice to look at and easy to follow. I also appreciate the explanations of what each exercise is doing because I like to know the reason I’m doing something and I think that also makes it easier to choose which exercises to do if you don’t have time for all of them.I also really appreciate the notes of being courteous to your fellow passengers.This book explains the importance of circulation and stretching. I once went on an awesome cross country train trip on Amtrak. I loved it but it would have been even better if I had had this book to keep my neck and back from getting such a crick! Next time I will have Airplane Yoga with me and I recommend it to everyone!

I’ve been practicing yoga for over 10 years now, but this put a creative spin on how to do yoga in a unique environment. The book was written in a very sequential manner with excellent photographs, making it easy to follow along and perform yoga poses as I read the book. It was insightful in making the most of a small space when traveling via airplane. I wish I would have read this book sooner. Last year when making the long flight to Europe, both of my feet had significant swelling, and I subsequently sprained my ankle while walking the streets of Paris. I believe this could have been prevented if I would have followed the exercises mentioned in this book. As a physical therapist, I would highly recommend this book to my patients, as well as my friends and family.

Not the bet Ketogenic Book, but not the worst By Amazon Customer Starting off it has a risk section, but unfortunately they don't go into detail, they just tell you to discuss with you doctor. Kidneys Issues: One a Ketogenic diet is not a high protein diet so you aren't going to be injuring you kidneys, now if you are in kidney failure or stage 3 then you should worry, otherwise no. Future Osteoporosis- all it says is that some people excrete Calcium from their kidneys, who does this relate to, they didn't say what types of category these people fall in, is it generally or Ketogenic, they don't say. Even if that was the case, calcium is only one nutrient in the aspect of bone health and a Ketogenic diet doesn't leach calcium anymore than a standard diet. In fact without the grains hindering your gut you may absorb it better, especially with all the fat soluble vitamins you will get going Ketogenic. THEN the clincher-Elevated cholesterol- immediately they say that animal fats are bad and full fat dairy is bad, which is patently false and do not raise you cholesterol or heart disease risk- saturated fat has been vindicated time and time again in studies. You should be eating plenty of animal fats and saturated fats on a Ketogenic diet. I think maybe for safety sake they put that in there because that is what the status quo recommend. It seems rather foolish to put that in there and it is confusing to the rest of the book.Alright in the next they do manage to set the record strait about Diabetic Ketoacidosis, any good keto book should make you aware of the difference. Unfortunate they do not warn you about the withdrawal symptoms from grains and sugar, anywhere from 7 days to a month you may struggle to get into ketosis because you are a sugar burning machine instead of a fat one. You may feel tired, probably have a headache and sluggish till then, getting extra salt helps because the with any diet the 1st initial loss will be water and without the fattening processed foods you will be peeing out sodium and other electrolytes.The what you should be eating section is an accurate portrayal of a good Ketogenic diet.Alas they suggest that you should be getting 60%-70% fat which you really should be shooting for more like 85 percent. To much meat will kick you out or keep you out of ketosis. Although they have a section about exercise, it is not necessary to a Ketogenic diet, if you are sedentary you should wait until you get adapted to start exercise or you'll become ravenous beast for all sorts of bad things. If your already active you don't have to worry about that so much, keep up what you are doing, except for excessive cardio which is unnecessarily draining. If your seriously interested Ketogenic Diet, get Keto clarity by Jimmy Moore (its only 9.99), if you unsure this is a decent start for 3.99.
