Everyone wants a good relationship, but very few people have the courage to attain one. Many of us spend years spiraling in and out of failed relationships and marriages only to find ourselves becoming less likely to trust anyone with our hearts in the future. So how do you stop the cycle of failed relationships and maintain a solid, loving relationship with your chosen mate? You start by telling and accepting the truth. Von Decarlo and Patrice O'Neal, a comedian well known for his brutal honesty, shared a long-lasting ten-year relationship before his passing in 2011. She credits him for teaching her how to become a better woman, mother, wife, friend, performer, and business person. By abstaining from marginalizing and rejecting his man truth, Von Decarlo became fluent in "speaking man," thereby gaining the empathy and knowledge of the male species. A book for both men and women, Von Decarlo shares the philosophies taught to her by Patrice O'Neal that enabled her to speak fluent man and have such a unique, successful relationship with him for a decade. From O'Neal, Von lived and learned the true give-and-take of a successful relationship; they were partners in every sense of the word, fully supporting one another's dreams and endeavors. Having lived every woman's dream of a dynamic relationship, today Von Decarlo, also known as "Coach Von", observes and guides women (and men) regarding their relationship foibles and quandaries, from her perspective. This level of her "coaching" is from her personal experience. And lest that title, Speak Fluent Man: The Top Things Women Should Consider Before Blaming The Man, sound anti-woman, Von Decarlo asserts that ladies should be mindful that equality and accountability goes both ways. There is the woman's side, the man's side and hopefully, there is their side, when they come together/work together and agree to build a mutually beneficial union between them. Speak Fluent Man is a great read for men as well, considering that although they already speak their own language, men sometimes do not know how to translate and teach it to their significant others as Patrice did so successfully. Patrice's ability to teach Von how to think above her emotions as a woman into a logical place, is the foundation of what she says enabled her to understand and accept "man truth", and thus realizing the secrets to a successful relationship. Whether you are male, female, heterosexual, bisexual, transsexual, or transgender, Speak Fluent Man can help you to realize the full potential in any type of relationship, by helping you to understand how to have the courage to live in your own truth, and accept the truth of others unconditionally.

If you didn't know, Patrice O'Neal was more than a comedian. He was a philosopher. When Patrice was alive, everybody wanted him to write a book, but he never got around to it before he died. He said he wanted Von to write about his philosophies from her perspective. I have to admit, I was a little skeptical at first since I tend to prefer a book about someone's life or thoughts to be written by them so I didn't know how it was going to turn out.It turned out to be one of the best books that I have ever read in my life. Von did a great...no...Von did a superb job of capturing the essence of Patrice's perspectives in this book. It was like I could hear him speaking to me while reading it. I would say it's quite the page turner, but that would be an understatement. Not only does Von talk about Patrice's philosophies. She uses very personal details from her life to help illustrate their meaning. There is a part in the book where Von talks about how a couple should complement each other. It sounds like common sense, but Von breaks it down so people can understand you shouldn't try to change someone or try to force them to act a certain way that is not their nature. There are so many great parts in this book that it would be too much to type. I wouldn't want to spoil it anyway. This book isn't just about relationships, but life in general. To be honest, reading this book has had a impact on me. It made me look in the mirror and check myself. Patrice always talked about wanting to live life in righteousness. That is something that I'm definitely trying to do.I think anyone male or female would gain some perspective that would help them in life after reading this book. I will go as far as to say, reading this book would be more helpful than any relationship counseling if a couple were going through something. It would definitely help them examine themselves and fix anything in the relationship that can be fixed. It also might let them know that they aren't really compatible and would probably be better off going their separate ways. That might sound a little harsh, but Patrice always was about a person needing to get their medicine(figuratively speaking of course) no matter how bad they thought it tasted.Nobody Did It Better. This is so true about Patrice and it's also a reference to the song "Nobody Does It Better" by Carly Simon. It was one of Patrice's favorite songs and you will find out why while reading. It's one of my favorite parts of the book. It's also one of the saddest parts because it makes you miss Patrice even more. He was definitely one of the greatest comedians to ever live. If not the greatest. His routines and outlook on life not only made you laugh out loud, but really made you think. Of course, Patrice wasn't the only comedian to do this. He stood out by way he was able to break down just about any subject and look at it logically which was really something. Not only that, It seemed like Patrice was on a mission to help people live a better life. It was like he was a comedic life guide. This book is a guide for life that I will be definitely referring back to. I feel that it should be taught in psychology, philosophy, and/or sociology classes. It's that deep.I'm so glad Von wrote it. I know it had to be hard to reveal and relive certain things like Patrice's death for example. I'm also glad my purchase went to support Patrice's family and his legacy. After reading this book, it makes me wish Patrice was still with us more than ever. His perspective is definitely needed today. I could go on and on about how great this book is. To whoever who is reading this, stop everything you are doing and purchase it right now. You won't regret it. I most certainly didn't. To Von, thank you so much for writing it. I know I'm not the only one, but I really appreciate it.R.I.P. Patrice

My sister is 37 and needs to develop a goodjumpshot to be able to stay in the game at that age. I read your bool in 20hours and it was the first book i everbought with my money with an actual interest in reading it because I dont read books.Thank you for taking the time to write it as Patrice has been a huge impact on my life on how to stay righteous. Patrice would be proud of you and have promoted you to a 15th dan blackbelt. if there even is such a thing. lol This book puts the missing piece of the puzzle for all those who listened to Patrice ramble on Oand A and The Black Phillip show when he switched subjects because he had so much passion in teaching people his points of view. "I want to change peoples lives but not be profound about it" Patrice Oneal. You changed my life the day i learned about your death on the news and took it upon myself to research what you left behind. Von you are a rarity among women.Keep doing your thing. Love , Peace and chicken grease.

Relationship's Philosopher's Stone for the 21st Century By Kali Lover This is the Relationship Philosopher's Stone for the 21st Century for men, women, LGBT, you name it. I frankly did not have high expectations of it. Was judging the book by its cover -- sexy, seductive, lighthearted maybe even shallow. I was WRONG. Well, 2 out of 4 I was right:sexy & seductive, yes; lighthearted & shallow, NO. Actually, I COULD NOT, COULD NOT put it down. Turns out this is a highly spiritual book in every aspect. It details how to love and be loved, first and foremost, for yourself and only secondly for your significant other. Most of us have been brainwashed into believing so many paradigms of relationships that are filled w/dishonesty and pandering to the fears of our partner to make they stay with us.I found myself going from being moved to tears, laughing out loud, and saying "Yes! Yes! Yes!" in every chapter. This is one very TIGHTLY, WELL WRITTEN, PAGE TURNER, ELOQUENT book of wisdom. The lessons garnered here applies to every facet of life, if you will let it. I am in AWE of Von Decarlo for having written this masterpiece of an homage to her soulmate, best friend, teacher and lover...A few moments after finishing the manifesto of love, I was absolutely overwhelmed with emotion. The love story that lies in the backdrop of this manual is heart rending, spectacular and inspiring beyond words. To Von, you are the epitome of strength and wisdom for this incredible accomplishment; surrendering yourself to the process of what, I can only begin to imagine, was one helluva heartbreaking and life affirming process in culling and documenting all of these parable-vignettes. My heartfelt gratitude & love to you for the herculean strength and tenacity to have this come to fruition. Patrice would have picked no one less in a partner in life.To Patrice, I never met you but, oh my God, I miss you so much it hurts. You are a FIERCE Warrior Leader for love and Freedom. Thank you for a life lived to its fullest and for picking Von...Now to those reading this & wondering should I or shouldn't I -- there's no in-between with this Truth Medicine. Either you're ready or not. Speak Fluent Man: The Top Things Women Should Consider Before Blaming The Man, by Von Decarlo
