The text is simple and well written, marking it as an excellent choice for story time for toddlers and young preschoolers. The story progression is easy to follow and very heart felt as we follow Mimi and her favorite cuddly bear as they play in the snow. When Bear is accidentally rolled up in a snowman and is lost, Mimi is heartbroken. A convenient thaw the next day leads to a happy ending as Bear is found once again.The illustrations in this little gem are the true stars of the show. Mimi is filled with a surprising amount of charm and expressiveness. From her big head, to her small, expressive features, she effectively tells the story of winter excitement, worrying loss, to joy at once again finding her friend. The color palette and soft edges perfectly evoke the chilly winter day and the dismal gray thaw that follows.Mimi and Bear in the Snow is a wonderful choice for any story time leader looking to fill out a toddler/preschool winter theme, or any toddler's personal collection. This is a genuine treat that I can't wait to share with my story time groups as soon as the weather grows cold and the snow starts to fall!
