Making sense of racism: personal transformation and greater justice in society By Kathy Krug This book does exactly what its title says...it helps us to understand why racism exists and in doing that creates understanding between people and compassion for people. It helps us understand how prejudice ingrained in our institutions filters throughout our lives and looks at history to help us understand how we all have racial conditioning. it helps us see how we all can heal from our racial conditioning...providing a lot of hope for something that has been such a source of suffering for so many for so long! Please read it for your own personal transformation as well as bringing about greater justice in our society!

This book will answer your questions without shame or blame By Amazon Customer Because of the racial upheavals in the US over the last year, many people are trying to understand what racism is and if there's anything they can do about it. This book is for anyone who is curious and wants to learn more, as well as for those who are already passionate about racial justice.This moving book hooked me in with stories that engaged my heart and mind. Rita Starr shows clearly how racial conditioning happens and how our personal healing is enhanced by challenging racism and standing up for justice. I really love the humanity in the book: there is no shame and no blame. Starr has so much compassion for everyone scarred in any way by racial injustice, whether as a person of color targeted by racism or as a person of European descent who was conditioned - often violently - to fear and dislike those with darker skin. Carson Rita Starr makes a strong and clear case for challenging racism, both in our own selves and among our friends and colleagues. Rather than being charged with accusations and admonishments, she creates a framework wherein racism can be confronted with love and compassion. I strongly recommend the book and hope she continues to write.
