I think that, that is why I enjoy it so much.Every chapter paints a picture of what is going on. I love it.Some parts are light-hearted; however, most of it is serious. It is about a girl with no name, obviously. An old man takes her in and then madness pursues. She can shape-shift. She goes on a long journey to find her father and deals with some interesting things. The journey is long, but the details in the chapters make it well worth reading.I enjoyed this book very much. I am sure any fantasy/drama reader would love this novel too. :)

The story is about the journey made by a young girl in becoming a woman, and the people she meets along the way. Her journey is complicated by the fact that she is an orphan, and a nameless one besides, and therefore she has to both earn and find her own way. That would seem to make it a suitable book for young people who are very concerned with questions of identity in life. The writing style was simple and even, and never failed to be interesting. There was always one more person to meet, some valuable lesson to learn, or some mystery to solve that keeps the reader engaged throughout. Would highly recommend, and am looking forward to the other books in the series, which are planned.

With the distant narrative, more telling than showing, and clean storyline - the story fits well in the MG age range. I feel that the author could of extended the story easily by another 50 pages by adding more descriptions and more character development. However, it is a very solid story. By 80% through the book, I was worried that the book would end in a cliffhanger because there was so much more left to be resolved. There is some closure, but the ending feels anti-climatic and ambiguous. Overall, a quick story worth reading.

Not Your Mother's Goose proves that fairy tales and nursery rhymes aren't just for kids anymore. Envision it as the Cliffs Notes of children's stories — if Cliffs Notes was overtaken by Dave Barry or the folks at The Onion. Not Your Mother's Goose is a series of totally irreverent, mega-sarcastic fairy tale recaps, along with a host of hilarious fake news stories and headlines ranging from Rapunzel getting a bikini wax to Old MacDonald bombing on Wheel of Fortune after only buying vowels. Mix in illustrations reminiscent of Gary Larson's classic Far Side cartoons, and you're left with a madcap read that will leave you laughing all the way from Rumpelstiltskin's Twitter feed to Humpty Dumpty's Facebook page (where Jack is still trying to grow a beanstalk—in FarmVille).

Not Your Mother's Goose, by Topher Goggin

About the Author Having passed second grade (on the very first try), Topher Goggin is highly qualified to write a fairy tale book like Not Your Mother's Goose. After continuing past second grade to Williams College and Notre Dame Law School, he now works as a small town lawyer in Central Michigan, and additionally does other lawyerly things like teaching college precalculus and showing eight-year-olds the finer points of how to PLEASE stop hitting the kid next to you with a nine-iron in the local junior golf program. He also is an accomplished radio play-by-play announcer, having captured two Broadcast Excellence Awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters. At age 11, he appeared as a guest on Late Night with David Letterman, discussing the one-man sports newspaper he had started three years earlier. Unfortunately, he then picked the Buffalo Bills to win the upcoming Super Bowl, sending his journalistic credibility straight into the dumpster. Other random talents and skills include: Escaping from being tied to a toilet in a family magic show (at age 9), officiating a wedding in California (not at age 9), hosting a satirical college radio show that might have gotten 30 listeners on a good week primarily by shelling out over $4000 in prizes, cashing three times in the World Series of Poker, giving a graduation speech devoted entirely to NASCAR, and the always important ability to recite approximately twenty Dr. Seuss tongue twisters from memory. That last one is especially lucrative.

Incredible Satire By Alexander Fitzgerald I love to read good comedic writing, precisely because of how hard it is to find, but I find I'm often let down. Reading the reviews for this title I decided to give it a go.Oh my Lord, was that ever a great decision. Whenever I am pissed off outside my house running from appointment to appointment I pull out my Kindle and read a few of the stories. I have literally started crying at some of the jokes. One great quality of solid comedians is their ability to find the ridiculousness in the obvious and shine a light on it for all it's worth. The way Topher Goggin can turn a phrase with a hilariously astute observation of these ancient tales is howl-worthy. My wife has begun chiding me for my intense spasms of laughter while she's trying to watch TV.The book is not without it's flaws. Topher's batting average is not perfect, but then again no comedy writer is. There are a few duds in the mix, but as someone who has tried to write comedy, I've noticed some jokes do better with certain audiences. Sometimes a sentence that sounds incredible in a theoretical sense just doesn't pan out, and you can't know that till you put out the work. So, perhaps some of these jokes just weren't for me, and alternatively, no comedian can connect 100% of the time. For a debut though this is incredible. I can't wait to read more of Mr. Goggin's work. I just hope that he starts doing stand up as well, or he opens a dedicated Youtube channel!

By Sheryl Short and fun, this is a clever compilation of fairy tales and nursery rhymes re-told with a modern twist. The author gives interpretive summaries of a multitude of fairy tales and folk tales, including "Rumplestiltskin", "Sleeping Beauty", "Snow White", "Hansel and Gretel", and "The Tortoise and the Hare", just to name a few, infusing sarcasm and wit into each. He also includes headlines from supposed newspaper articles and occasionally the article as well. These headlines were some of my favorite parts of the book. I listened to this on audio and really enjoyed the delivery by the narrator Eric Martin, which was spot on with the sarcasm and attitude. A word of warning though-- you will likely laugh out loud while reading (or listening) to this book so make sure you are somewhere you don't have to hold back. I had to try and hold in my laughs more than once, better to just let them out.Be aware that the intended audience is definitely adult and older teens. This is NOT for young children. If you don't mind sexual innuendos and non-politically correct comments and you have a somewhat twisted sense of humor (like me), you will probably enjoy this. Please note: I was provided this audiobook by the author, publisher and/or narrator at no cost in an exchange for a unbiased review courtesy of [...].

By Sci-Fi & Scary A mixed bag of adult spins on classic fairy-tales, Not Your Mother's Goose had me snorting just reading the introduction, so I had high hopes when I started reading it.The stories ranged from mildly amusing to "Whatcha laughin' about, mummy?" from the Snuglet as I cackled on the couch. My favorite has to be the short little article on Rapunzel's first bikini wax, but Mr. Goggin has a couple winners in his re-tellings of Snow White and Bambi, as well as the short little "taken from the headlines" type brief bits scattered throughout the book. My favorite of those is the one about The Headless Horseman seeking a..uhm, well, I can't reprint that. There are potshots that are mostly hilarious at everyone from Gyneth Paltrow to the Oakland Raiders.I won't lie and say that every re-telling in the book was hilarious, or even funny (there were a couple stinkers), but I found myself at least smiling in amusement once or twice per page at a particular line if not at the overall story.Side note: This book came at the perfect time for me today. Really needed a giggle, and Not Your Mother's Goose definitely delivered.Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review.

A great introcution to the etiquette of the gym and a nice way to help people feel comfortable in a gym setting By DrManejwala This is a great, simple and quick read that can help make the gym feel much more comfortable. As a physician I'm often asked for how to get over the psychological barrier of getting to the gym especially for newbies. This book provides 10 straightforward and useful tips over the course of about 60 pages. Its written in a friendly, gentle, living-room style and feels like a conversation. The author also conducted some online surveys and shares the results in the book which are interesting. There are also some workbook-style exercises to help focus the reader on what matters. At the end of the day, its a good recommendation if you are new to the gym, intimidated by the gym, or worried you are breaking some unwritten rules. I think it covers all the main points you would need to feel comfortable and effective at the gym. I have recommended it to several people.

In the final book in her Great Lakes Adventure trilogy, Loreen Niewenhuis launches off the shoreline to explore the islands of the Great Lakes Basin.

From hiking the rugged wilderness of Isle Royale in Lake Superior to strolling the metropolis on Montreal Island in the St. Lawrence River, Niewenhuis explores key islands in each of the five Great Lakes and their connecting waterways.

Biking, hiking, and kayaking, she searches for the fascinating differences and uniting themes of the water-edged islands found throughout this vast freshwater network--the connected ecology of lakes Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario.

Together, these Great Lakes and their island outposts provide a vital source of water, a canvas for human culture, and a unique haven for diverse plant and animal species, some of which are endangered.

It's a celebration of place, a warm and friendly invitation to see these beloved inland seas with fresh eyes.

A nice read By SRB it was good but there is a lot of history on the Manitou islands and I would have liked a little more of that instead of piping plovers . I guess its her book and it is what it is .I'm glad I read it but I would have liked to read about her hiking and camping on the more remote places of the islands and describe the terrain .But she did a good job with what she did do .The people were interesting

Where's Wally for Star Wars fans By Sarah (Feeling Fictional) If you'v ever enjoyed the Where's Wally? children's books and you're a fan of Star Wars then you're going to LOVE Where's the Wookie? It's exactly what you'd expect from a children's activity book in this style, it has some fabulous and very detailed cartoon images of very recognisable Star Wars locations and you have to search these double spread images for Chewbacca and 9 other characters from the movies (including Han Solo, the Millennium Falcon, Boba Fett & Bossk among others). Some characters are fairly easy to find while others will take much longer (in fact there are a few I STILL haven't spotted!) but there is definitely hours of entertainment for all ages in the book.Where's the Wookiee? will make a great Christmas present or socking filler for Star Wars fans of all ages.

By C I bought this as a gift for my cousin, I figured it was unique because it was not widely available in the states, so odds are he wouldn't be receiving it from anyone else. I've seen some of those other Star Wars search & find books that have pretty sparse illustrations and you could find the object from 30 feet away, this is a pretty quality book, in the same manner as Where's Waldo/Wally. If he doesn't like the book, I'll be more than happy to keep it myself!

My boyfriend and I were a bit disappointed with the art style of the actual search pages. The front back and indexes and any non-search and find geared pages had a clear style. Many of the search and find pages seemed to decrease in quality to the point of not being able to tell if we actually found a character because it seemed to be drawn sloppy compared to the standard that we expected based on the cover and opening pages and character profile.Overall it was still fun to go through and we enjoyed it enough along with having a few good laughs.

1 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Mad Libs silliness as usual, but occasionally contradicts source material in weird ways. By Swank Ivy I wasn't planning to review the tie-in activity books for this series unless they had actual content, but I figure what the hey; I've perused it and it's a book, so I might as well. First, I was a huge Mad Libs fan when I was a kid, though like many people I probably used a few too many potty words to make it funny. Even then, the stories usually weren't that funny, but occasionally an exceptionally absurd sentence would hit your funny bone and you'd go rolling. I kinda noticed in this show-specific Mad Libs book that no matter what you'd put in the blanks, it probably wouldn't be funny beyond just slightly absurd--it feels a little phoned in, as an excuse to sell something with popular characters on the front. You can't really expect any "canon" content in a book like this, but it's fun to look for it if you're going to bother buying it. I was unsure whether the out-of-character stuff written to complete for the absurd stories was written that way because the whole thing is going to be silly on purpose so why try, or whether it had scenarios that couldn't/wouldn't happen with these characters because the creator of the book didn't actually know the source material. I think that would have irritated me a lot as a kid if I bought this for a way to interact with beloved stories and the situations were so off.It has a "first day of Gem training" exercise scenario wherein Pearl tells him he'll be "the best Gem in the universe" if he can harness his Gemstone power, and Greg sings a weird song about troubles he doesn't have such as an unforgiving boss and a broken down truck. One of the prompts defines a Warp Whistle as something the Gems need to use the Warp Pad, which isn't true at all. A "history" Mad Lib suggests the whole Crystal Gems group is from the Gem Homeworld, which isn't true in Amethyst's case. A "let's switch weapons" scenario doesn't make a lot of sense because it ends with Garnet threatening to confiscate Amethyst and Pearl's weapons if they won't get along, and people who watch the show know why that doesn't make any sense. A page from Amethyst's diary says they fought a creature from [insert silly word] planet and a newspaper excerpt says Steven summoned a creature from another planet, while in the show they don't exactly fight random interplanetary creatures. One hide-and-seek-themed page has Amethyst in danger of being found because they cook her favorite food and that would inevitably make her Gem glow and give her away, which is definitely not something that happens in association with Amethyst ever eating or enjoying food. A book containing a Gem-related prophecy is found in Greg's shed at one point, while there's nothing in the show about written prophecies. And a weird factoid says Garnet learned to surf on another planet where surfing competitions pick the next president, which . . . well, for SU canon reasons, cannot have happened. This is all very silly to pick on, but again, it would have bothered me as a child and made me feel like adults who are writing materials about the show don't know it as well as I do.My favorite Mad Libs were the ones where you get an invitation to Steven's birthday party, and then you get a follow-up discussing all the things that went wrong. And the one about Gem Fusion seemed to know what was going on, but I didn't think it would be very funny filled out.I don't suppose we can take it as canon because this is a silly tie-in book, but one page says Garnet loves to surf. Well, that makes sense, since we did already know she was a Really. Good. Swimmer.

13 of 13 people found the following review helpful. Getting Some Closure By J Hart The Testing Trilogy's third book brings some closure to Cia's adventures. The novel picks up right where book two left off and finds Cia trying to make heads or tails of who is friend and who is foe. When she's tasked by the President with a major project that will help end the Testing forever, she must decide who she can trust and whether or not she's willing to go through with it at all.Graduation Day moves a little slower than the other two books, focusing in on just a few days worth of happenings. It's a touch repetitive as we read Cia going over her motives and trying to decide who to trust and what to do. Overall, though, it's a good end to this trilogy. Although, the author does leave it a bit open at the end ... maybe there will be more Testing books?

16 of 17 people found the following review helpful. Good ending to a thought provoking series By Canadian eReader Graduation Day by Joelle Charbonneau is the third and final book in The Testing trilogy. It continues the story of Cia Vale, survivor of the brutal University entrance exam known as TheTesting, University student and rebel as she attempts to end The Testing. i have enjoyed both previous books and enjoyed reading the ending of the story. What I likedThe protagonist. I really liked Cia as a YA protagonist. She has her head on her shoulders and gives great consideration to the consequences of her actions. She’s very much of the watch and wait mould. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t take action, but she doesn’t act without thinking. These character traits are what lead to her central position in the drama. The story would have played very differently with a Katniss Everdeen or a Tris Prior as the protagonist. The themes. The theme of Testing is continued throughout the series. This is continued in Graduation Day when Cia must test the loyalty of those she wishes to have as allies, and she herself continues to be tested in more ways that one as she seeks to end the horrific University entrance exam. Trust is also a major theme in Graduation Day as Cia must decide whom to place her trust. The pacing. The pacing kept moving along briskly and kept me turning the pages. What I didn’t likeMockingjay. Two leaders, one rebel, one elected, both telling two different stories. Teen heroine must work out which of them is telling the truth and the future of her society rests on her decision. Sound familiar? In my review of The Testing I commented that it had similar themes and plot points to The Hunger Games, and I’m seeing the same in the final book of the series. In all fairness, given that the characters involved are very different – and indeed Cia’s personality is of key importance – things play out in quite another way, I suspect this was partly deliberate by Charbonneau to bring the characterisation of her protagonist to the fore.Questions not answered. One of my biggest issues with the series was that, in a society where a reduced population is a serious issue, the government would ruthlessly cull a significant number of its brightest young citizens. I’m not certain that the answer given in Graduation Day really explains things to my satisfaction.Despite these minor quibbles, I did really enjoy Graduation Day and The Testing trilogy. It’s definitely a thought provoking series. I gave Graduation Day four stars out of five.

It didn't bother me that some people said this series was just a remake of The Hunger Games. (I've been known to describe it as Hunger Games in an academic setting.) It's a good story no matter the similarities.I was really looking forward to the last book in the trilogy. However, now that I've finished the book I'm sort of on the fence about it. On the one hand I did enjoy the book, but on the other hand it really didn't live up to the first two books in the series. It took me longer to read this time around. The story just didn't have the edge of your seat pacing as the first two books. Most of the action takes place in Cia's head, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It just makes the book more reflective than action paced. The ending bothered me as well. Parts of the ending really weren't a surprise (no I'm not going to give a spoiler), but mostly I felt as though the author still had more to say. This confused me because I thought this was a trilogy. I hate when this happens. I read a book and even though I enjoyed the story, I end up feeling disappointed because somehow there should have just been more to it.I'm not sorry I read the book. And I will continue to recommend the trilogy to readers who like dystopian novels, but I still have that nagging feeling that something is missing.

A mesmerizing mix of Charles Bukowski, Hunter S. Thompson, and Philip K. Dick, Chameleo is a true account of what happened in a seedy Southern California town when an enthusiastic and unrepentant heroin addict named Dion Fuller sheltered a U.S. Marine who’d stolen night vision goggles and perhaps a few top secret files from a nearby military base. Dion found himself arrested (under the ostensible auspices of The Patriot Act) for conspiring with international terrorists to smuggle Top Secret military equipment out of Camp Pendleton. The fact that Dion had absolutely nothing to do with international terrorists, smuggling, Top Secret military equipment, or Camp Pendleton didn’t seem to bother the military. He was released from jail after a six-day-long Abu-Ghraib-style interrogation. Subsequently, he believed himself under intense government scrutiny — and, he suspected, the subject of bizarre experimentation involving “cloaking”— electro-optical camouflage so extreme it renders observers practically invisible from a distance of some meters — by the Department of Homeland Security. Hallucination? Perhaps — except Robert Guffey, an English teacher and Dion’s friend, tracked down and interviewed one of the scientists behind the project codenamed “Chameleo,” experimental technology which appears to have been stolen by the U.S. Department of Defense and deployed on American soil. More shocking still, Guffey discovered that the DoD has been experimenting with its newest technologies on a number of American citizens. A condensed version of this story was the cover feature of Fortean Times Magazine (September 2013).

Comedy, paranoia, and the absurd coalesce into a smooth narrative that oftentimes feels so immersive that you might find yourself checking the bathroom mirror for invisible midgets. Equal parts gonzo journalism (if John Waters wrote for WIRED), and someone's last will. If this is actually a true story, then it would make sense that the author would want to tell this story to insure that if he disappeared or suddenly found himself the victim of an "accident", he would want the world to know why. That said, part of me still feels that this must largely be made up. It has to be or at least I WANT it to be made up. If it is indeed a true story (and I'm afraid it is), then it is an indication of the scary time we do live in.As far as characters go, our protagonist is sympathetic and at the same time one can't help but feel that he is the biggest loser in the cosmos. His "life choices" are awful, pathetic, and at the same time full of the hilarity that one only finds when you have lived the absurd to it's fullest. Normally, most paranoids go unnoticed, but thanks to his biographer, we have a ringside seat to an unfolding disaster that has elements of a Greek tragedy and a Philip K. Dick novel.True story or not, it is one great yarn. This should be a TV series. I can picture the Hollywood pitch..."Strung out loser finds himself immersed in a covert plot to test out the governments latest spy gadgets and secret weapons on him."Or something to that effect.I really hope there is a follow up to this book, or possibly a fictionalized series. If he doesn't want to write it--I do.Great read.

I was VERY impressed with the fact that there are neither grammatical errors, nor words missing. Often with books of this type I have found the writing poor, the format loose and the grammar sloppy. Not this book -- it's perfect, written English. The subject is very interesting as it deals with a "dark" topic -- the secret world of military clandestine projects. We've read about some of the secret projects that have come to light. We've seen movies that appear to poke fun at those projects as though they are not true. One part of the book deals with a man who lives on the margins of society whom the Navy takes advantage of in order to experiment on him certain techniques that the Navy stole from a scientist, which is the second part. The US military can procure anything under the guise of "national security", doesn't have to pay for what it took nor give credit to the person who invented it. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in seeing how the military (in this case the Navy) still engages in clandestine abuse of US citizens and how far along in "dark" technologies (like invisibility) the military has gotten.

5 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Well worth reading. By Richard Thieme Reads like a "conspiracy theory" meta-fiction - so a reader might pass it by - but all of the technologies cited are documented and factual. The only question is whether or not they were used in the nefarious (and illegal) way that is described. Within its world, the logic is solid, once the premises are accepted. The major premise is the reliability of the narrative from Dion and the fidelity of the report by the author to the narrative. To decide about that for yourself, I strongly suggest reading this. It is beyond science fiction. I know some do not want even to think that what is described in the book is possible because it undermines the "consensus reality" in which they swim inside a large goldfish bowl. But alas, we are fated to do counter-counter-intelligence in the 21st century if we want to have a clue as to what is happening around us in the darker shadows. This fascinating page-turner is grist for the mill. Five stars, deserved. Do yourself a favor and read it and think about it for a bit and come to your own conclusions.

The Story of Diva and Flea, by Mo Willems

From School Library Journal Gr 2–4—Flea is a flâneur, an alley cat happy to take the world as it comes, seeking out new adventures every day. Diva is a pampered pooch who lives at the 11 avenue La Play apartment building. Laid back Flea is out and about on one of his adventures when he spies Diva. While initially apprehensive about this cat who comes and goes, Diva grows curious about Flea. One day, with his encouragement, she cautiously ventures beyond the wrought iron fence that frames her world and follows the feline to see the tower that can "cut a cloud in half." When she in turn invites him to explore her world inside the apartment, he is the one who must be trustful and brave. The occasional French word or chapter title paired with DiTerlizzi's gorgeous illustrations work together to create an appropriately Parisian feel throughout. The charming endpapers, ornate chapter heading designs, and rich paper feel further extend the visual and tactile appeal of this work. With a message that facing fear and getting to know someone new will open one's world, young readers will find much to love about Diva and Flea. VERDICT An excellent addition to chapter book collections.—Laura Fields Eason, Parker Bennett Curry Elementary School, Bowling Green, KY

This book has proven to be great way to introduce my son to chapter books By Emily Flury This book has proven to be great way to introduce my son to chapter books. We all love Mo Willems so purchasing this book was a no-brainer. With the chapters being short, it was nice to be able to read a little bit, put the book down, and then pick it up the next day. The story is, of course, cute and meaningful and the illustrations are absolutely beautiful.

16 of 16 people found the following review helpful. Delightfully Cute Story for an Early Chapter Book By Mark Baker - Carstairs Considers As you might have noticed, I’ve become a huge fan of Mo Willems in the last few years. I try to keep up with all of his books, which is fairly easy because he usually writes delightful picture books. (No, seriously. If you’ve haven’t read any of them yet, take five minutes to read one.) So when I heard about The Story of Diva and Flea, I knew I had to give it a try. It’s no surprise to me that I loved it.This is a bit of a departure for Mo in two ways. First, it is for a slightly older audience than his typical easy reader books. It’s almost 70 pages long and includes chapters and more words than normal. Secondly, instead of doing the illustrations himself, Mo asked his friend Tony DiTerlizzi to do them. Neither of these is a weakness in the slightest, just something worth noting. The story centers around the unlikeliest of friends, a small dog named Diva and an ally cat named Flea. Diva lives in a small Paris apartment and stands guard in the courtyard every day. However, she is very timid and runs away at everything, including approaching feet. Flea, on the other hand, spends his days exploring the city of Paris and living by his wits. One day, Flea walks outside the courtyard and sees Diva. While at first he delights in teasing her, soon he is spending his days telling Diva about all the things he’s experienced. As their friendship grows, they each impact the other in significant ways. How exactly will their lives change? While there may be some changes from Mo’s normal books, there are some similarities. We get the power of friendship and how that can change you for the better. That’s a constant theme of his Elephant and Piggie books after all. Both Diva and Flea are good characters (especially for a short book), and it’s hard not to fall in love with them. The story is predictable for adults, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t great. I found myself touched by it, and I’m sure kids won’t figure out where it is going. Not that the book is filled with twists or surprises. It’s just a simple, touching story of how an unexpected friendship helped these two characters lead better lives. It’s truly such a sweet book with nothing that should frighten anyone. Each two page spread is filled with wonderful pen and ink illustrations by Tony. His artwork is beautiful and brings the story to life in a rich way. Most two page spreads are roughly half text and half picture, so the pages will still go by quickly, encouraging young readers since they will feel like they are making great progress in the book.My only hesitation is a couple of French words that Mo Willems uses. He gives plenty of context, so it’s easy to figure out what the words mean, but beginning readers might stumble a bit over the French words and their pronunciation. Then again, maybe that’s just me since I’ve always struggled with foreign languages. On the other hand, Flea has some very fun misunderstandings of words that will delight young readers. So if you are looking for a great book to transition your young reader toward chapter books, The Story is Diva and Flea will do just that. Everyone will be charmed with this delightful story.

Take the sleepy little town of Fenton, West Virginia, where little has changed in the last 150 years. Add an aging over-endowed diva, fireball wielding senior citizens, an ex hippie conservative republican warlock and a somewhat misguided “epic battle” between good and evil. Sprinkle liberally (pun intended) with gnomes, zombies, vampires, gremlins, winged horses and a whole host of other strange creatures, including a super intelligent were-maraner. Shake well, (literally) and you get a recipe for fun and mayhem.
