This is the first book in the series.After the death of his father in a freak tornado that destroyed only their farm, Shea MacNamara is uprooted from his home in Oklahoma to go live in Cape Cod with his grandmother whom he has never met. Little does he know his life is about to change even more as he discovers secrets about his family and about himself.This was an amazing book and I cannot wait to read more from this series! This book is suitable for mature young adult to adult readers.

Great New YA/NA Story By Brit *I won a copy of this book from the Goodreads First Reads program*I originally entered for this book because it was all about mermaids, and I LOVE mermaids!! This book is about Shea MacNamara who is another regular farm boy from the Tornado Alley state of Oklahoma. After a tragic act of nature takes his only family immediate family he has ever known he is shipped to Cape Cod to live with his Gramma. This is where the story really begins. Shea is as lonely as ever because before he had a friend or two, but living in Cape Cod knows nobody so has no friends. He walks along the beach and picks up trash. One day he meets a girl. Kae is totally different from any other girl he has ever met before. She's just strange. Even for a girl. But these two may have more in common than the other first realizes.... This book was a very interesting read that kept my attention the whole time, and I want to read more! I loved how Shea was very brave in the face of adversity and always determined! Kae was such a sweet girl. I would love to see the goings on the underwater world as the story continues. This is soooo much more than a simple mermaid story!

I was immediately taken with the main character, Shea, and felt for him and the events that befell him in Oklahoma.I couldn't wait for him to find out who he truly was and really enjoyed his journey and the descriptions of the undersea world that O'Sullivan creates. The characters are real, the sea world is fun, and the story kept me reading late into the night.I really enjoyed this first book in a series and can't wait to read the rest! This is a great YA read!
