I apologize to the author for my original 3-star review. All I have to say is that second-half of the book blows the first half of this book out of the water. The only reason I give this book 4 book stars instead of 5 is because the first several chapters weren't as good as all the rest. The words were on a point, the grammar became perfect, there were many points that I couldn't put down the book after I got past the first few rougher chapters.****You can tell that this is the author's first book. It doesn't start picking up steam until halfway through when you can tell that the author really hit their stride with their prose. Some of the early stuff in the book didn't make much sense and I got a sense that the author was learning how to enjoy the English language while they put together this lovely book. There's an early diatribe about the preciousness of IPA beer, he goes really off the handle when he talks about the beer and somehow wriggles in visions of wolves and orgies as he sips from IPA beer from his CamelBak. I thought it was interesting but a bit odd considering it just came out of nowhere.I hope the author reading this review knows that his second book is going to be infinitely better than the first. What makes this book amazing in my opinion however is that this author encountered something inspiring enough in his life to write about it, a full-length novel, and you get that sense sometimes while reading this book.I do not think this is a $4.99 book however, there are a few grammar errors (like an uncapitalized word at the beginning of a sentence) that totally break the illusion of the written word. I snagged this book while the author made it free and do not regret reading most of it.

Dudley I personally consider the author a friend, so this book is a window into the heart and soul of my friend. I can tell you that it is genuine and written in his voice - I could easily hear him narrating it in my mind.What we have here is a journey into the world of EDM festivals, from the 'commercial' EDC to the 'authentic' Burning Man. I really identified with many of the thoughts and feelings expressed in the first 2/3 of the book - but in the last 1/3 the author finds things in that world that I don't think I ever would, or could. But that is the beauty of this book - you get to see someone Transform before your eyes, even if you cannot yourself understand it. Trying to understand it is the point.I think the criticisms of the festivals the author makes are fair, but I also think the epiphanies he had are genuine and real. Maybe the world would be a better place if we could all go on the same journey. Maybe the answers are out there for us in the festivals, but we are afraid to ask. I don't know. I just know that he seems to be a happier person because of this journey, and wants to impart what he has learned to the rest of us. Because he wants us to understand ourselves better.I think I understand myself a little better after having read this, but I definitely understand my friend better too. And that's also important. Understand why people go to these festivals, understand what they find, and think twice before dismissing or mocking them. Because they know something you and I don't - something that is incredibly hard to explain, but maybe, just maybe, is explained in this book here.I took one star off simply for minor spelling and proofreading errors. It is not a comment upon the content. I would have only taken a half star off, if possible.If you want to understand how the Festival scene works, read this book. Maybe you'll go. Maybe you won't. But you'll know more than you did before.
