It's true that OCD has become a common tag said to anyone we categorize as excessively organized or neat in materials. This book serves as an eye-opener that OCD has to be understood beyond that. There's really a need to promote public awareness. The author's message is worth-mentioning that we have to address social rejection, isolation, anxiety and embarrassment OCD patients are going through. Adding the different treatments shown in this book, it's possible that we become instrument for a friend, a family member, or someone we opt to help to regain his control and get back to usual life, OCD-free.

Super short and provides only most basic info - not very helpful at all By Homeschooling mom I'm going to second the other two-star reviewer's thoughts - this book is extremely short (think "booklet" not book) and has only the most basic info, and not even very much of that. I ordered six different books on OCD based on Amazon reviews; this one was the first to arrive and I hope the others are much better. Also, parents beware - the book spends almost as much time talking about taking pills and having surgery as it does about doing psychotherapy. So if you child happens to pick up the booklet and start flipping through, they might get completely freaked out, thinking that they are headed for surgery. Not helpful. Also, just a peeve of mine - three different places the booklet thanks people for downloading it. You would think that if the author was going to go to the trouble of producing an actual printed booklet, they could take a moment and remove the comments thanking people for downloading it.

The funny thing is that the author's example of checking the stove 20 times before you leave the house is something I do everyday! I'll get as far as the parking lot and turn around to go back back in my apartment and check to make sure the stove was turned off, even though I didn't cook breakfast. The explanation of ERP therapy is something that I think can help me. This seems like the most practical solution for me and I'm grateful the author laid out so many different options to choose from.
