If you can't metaphorically go home again... you can literally and Mac does. With an endangered female but some family still there and still willing... to......but then there's Tyrian, biking at night, everything's done at night... for this young man. I found here a certain elegance, even simplicity as these two 'lives' were heading towards one another --- and perhaps the most eloquent accident scene I've ever read.These are real people, especially the vampire, and the story only unfolds with a greater sense of acceptance of this character, an identifying with him that is quite beyond the 'accepted' mindset surrounding one of the creatures of the night. Typically either loathing or lust, Tyrian brings something wholly other to the table. He could be your brother-- he's just like that.This is a strong story enwrapped in leaves of nostalgia and vines of longing, sprinkled with the dust of loss and a night that beckons us all on....

Emily Lamcott just moved to the top of my favorite authors list. I am a huge fan of mysteries, especially vampire themed ones. This story has so many dimensions and twists & turns that you really don't know what is going to happen next. Being able to pull this kind of suspense off in a story is an art form that this author has been gifted with. The story contains moments of suspense, eerie bone-chilling fear, light-hearted humor and sarcasm, and carefully crafted cliff-hanger moments that keep you hanging on the edge. If you are a fan of vampire themed stories or mystery thrillers, then I would seriously consider adding this great book to your summer reading list. I can't say enough good things about the book or the author.

This book was the epitome of that very statement. Lamcott's imagination has poured over into the pages of this book to solidify into a novel that I could not put down. Well-written and unique, this vampire story with a cast of characters that draw you in (just like real vampires) and entangle you in a storyline that is too good to spoil by mentioning here. This book was worth every penny and more and I can't wait to see what else Lamcott has in store of an impatient reader such as myself. Ten stars for a vividly entertaining book!
