Hunter has done it again, what a fantastic way to end a series.Unspoken picks up where Eternal left off. Della’s daddy is accused of murdering his sister. Her aunt’s ghost is stalking her looking for answers. She still hasn’t decided between Chase (yuck) or Steve (yeah). Team Steve all the way! Which is in part why both guys are not with her at the beginning of the story. This doesn’t last for long though. Chase decides he needs to win Della back so he resigns from the council and applies to the FRU. Talk about changing his tune. Steve’s training is over and he returns from Paris. Both want to be there for Della, only time will tell which way she chooses.Through the course of the series, Della has grown immensely. While she has always had a backbone, she was rarely a risk-taker. While she was always a loyal friend, she knows that her friends will stand by her now too. She realizes that she is not alone, regardless of what she thought. She was always fiery, now though she knows how to use it to her advantage. It is rare that you see this much character development in a series. It is also one of the reasons I love reading CC Hunter books.The storyline is well developed in this book, my only complaint is that we rarely say the terrific trio together. Della was so focused on finding the real murderer and her boy troubles that it was hard to make times for her friends. Kylie and Lucas’ relationship is touched upon, only briefly. Miranda has choices to make of her own- there is no resolution to this. (Hopefully, fingers crossed, Miranda will get her own three book spin-off series.) When the girls are together their love and concern for each other shine brightly, as does their honesty. There is also a moment in the book where you get to see Holiday's devotion to Della- talk about hardcore.As there are two teams out there I will not discuss the love triangle as an angle, instead I will mention each guy individually apart from Della. Chase has good intentions, except the saying goes the road to ….. Steve is as sweet as ever, maybe a little too sweet as the saying goes too much of a good thing… I do like that both guys have Della’s best interest at heart. Both guys care for Della, the question really is which one does her heart want? Only Della knows the answer to that- even if she tries to avoid it as much as possible.The chase to find the true killer and to clear Della’s daddy’s name is thrilling. The excitement that this storyline brings to the table is different from the rest of the series. The question that weighed heavily on my mind though was “does her daddy deserve to be saved?” He treats Della horribly for the majority of both series. There will be resolution to this, however I am not sure I can forgive someone who makes their daughter believe they are a monster.Unspoken is the final book in the Shadow Falls After Dark series. The series ends how all series end, with resolution. It also leaves an opening for a spin-off of Miranda’s story if that is where CC Hunter wants to take it.My Rating 5 out of 5 starsFavorite Quote Don’t listen to me! Never listen to me! Of course you have, but imagine this: you pre-ordered it, you got it on the day of release, but you could only start reading after a month. Why? Well, it might have been because you had exams and work and every time you took the book in your hands, you just couldn’t open it. Yes, that what happened to me. Mu parents and friends even thought something was wrong with my brain. I couldn’t really blame them, but enough about my issues, let me talk about the book!I loved it, but I wanted a bit more, that’s why it’s not full 5 leaves. But let me explain: as always I was crawling with laughter due to Della’s fantastic language., her description of men’s genitalia’s keep getting better and better and I mean it . My book is full of highlights! But that’s not all the book is about. As always it’s fast paced and full of action, but somehow I would have loved a bit more action towards the end. Especially the whole Stine issue resolving. Who the hell is that? Well, read the series and you’ll get the whole scope on the satiation, because even if I start explaining my explanation will get lost and I might no, I will spoil the “fun”.Are you ready to unravel who is behind the murders? Are you ready to see whom Della chose? Are you ready to be there when Della’s family falls apart? I hope you are as the answers to these questions and many more are waiting for you in the book! So should I start what made me deduct that 0/5 leaves? It’s quite easy I wanted a bit more. Truth be told throughout the book I had this weird feeling that there should be more, another book, that it was not enough to finish Della’s story! I wanted more Della and Chase, more of her badass moments, it was a bit of a bummer that she appeared kind of weak in this book, but then again it is said that it takes great strength to show your weakness. And trust me Della in my mind is a strong character. I wanted more from the last battle. It was a bit too rushed. I wanted to see more of Della’s badass behavior! Am I asking for too much? But in the whole picture this book is a great book to complete the trilogy ad I’m on full alert to know if C.C. Hunter is going to be continuing with writing about Shadow Falls. The Kylie surprise in the book was an awesome one. I was anticipating it, but never thought I would be able to read about it. What is it? Not talking! Grab your copy now and find the answers for yourself! One thing that I do have the similar opinion with Chase is that I really did want to rip Della’s dad to shreds. And trust me so will you! The dude blew my mind full time!
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A Great End to Della's Story! By Jessica S. C.C. Hunter brings an exciting and thrilling conclusion to the Shadow Falls: After Dark trilogy. Unspoken brings us to the end of Della’s story and I couldn’t be happier about it. Well…maybe a teeny bit happier as my ship sunk faster than the Titanic. But sigh, can’t win them all!Della’s main focus continues to be trying to clear her father’s name for the death of his sister so many years ago. The case has been reopened and he is the prime suspect. But Della knows in her heart that her father is not capable of such a thing, even if he has been cold and distant to her over the past few months.Then there’s Chase, infuriating and yet, still irresistible Chase. No matter how hard Della tries to fight the feelings she has growing for him, she can’t seem to win. But her struggles are completely real and valid. Chase says he loves her, but Della thinks it’s more about their bond, the one that makes them Reborns. She thinks her feelings for him might even be based off that too. Hence her struggle with her feelings over him. How can you believe what’s in your heart if there’s something else that might be a ruling factor in the game?To make things a little more “exciting” Steve has returned to camp, and after a series of events at home, Della returns to camp as well while her father’s trial starts to go under way. Della and Steve definitely have a few issues to work out as well. I’ve always liked Steve. I loved how he was never afraid of Della’s sassy attitude. He was the first one to break through her icy exterior and he grew on me. Like he did with Della. And it’s makes Della’s “choice” all the more harder. Though, I started to see which guy she was leaning towards long before she did. I refuse to make comments on that remark as well, just to avoid spoiler territory. Just know that while what we see might not be able to be called “romance” since Della doesn’t make a choice until the very end, there are plenty of flirtatious moments that are worth grinning over!The mystery element to this one was pretty good too. There’s a lot of buildup to needing to find the real killer. And we know he’s a vampire from the getgo. One who is very talented at staying hidden. Add to the mix a new set of murders, one that makes Della’s investigation even harder just adds more pizzazz to the situation.Needless to say this was one fast paced read. And the fact that there’s a good 400 pages to read makes it even more delightful. There is a lot to read there, but seriously the pacing is done so well with every step of this mystery/investigation you’ll be eating up these pages!I suppose my only complaint was the matter of resolution. When the time came, I guess I was expecting a bit more detail to the answers of why and such. But I guess when you think of it, evil villains don’t really have to have a reason why they are so evil. So I pretty much just have to accept that fact in the way of getting answers out of the story.I loved C.C.’s revisit to Shadow Falls. I wasn’t ready to say goodbye when Kylie’s story ended and when we moved on to Della I was beyond happy. She’s such a sassy character! I’ve always loved that she says exactly what’s on her mind! The news keeps getting better because with Della’s story all wrapped up, C.C. plans to move onto Miranda’s story! Because seriously, after Perry left in the start of Della’s story, I was all about wondering what this witchy witch would do! Her novella only strengthen my desire to see her get her own happy ending. But let’s not get into all that here! This is Della’s story. And now it has ended where she is in her own happy ending! That’s two girls down and one to go!Overall Rating 4.5/5 stars
