Beauty and the Beast is my favorite fairytale and my favorite Disney movie. This is Lindsay Mead's debut novel and I have been eagerly awaiting its release. This is definitely a book that I will be pushing on people as much as possible. I was absorbed into this book from page one and read it very fast. I think this book is fantastic and an incredible start to a series.I really liked the characterization of Gaston. I felt like he was more of a three dimensional in this book than I have ever seen in other stories. That being said I think the one thing that is holding me back from giving this book 5 stars is that the majority of the side characters were very flat and not very memorable. Even Belle and Aleksander could have had more depth to their characters.I loved how action packed this story is right from the get go; Belle is kickass. The idea of hellhounds and Beauty and the Beast is just fantastic; it works so well. I haven't read much steampunk, but I loved this. It was just cool.The fantasy aspects to this story were wonderful. I loved the mixture of mythology used in the story from Norse, to Greek, to the use of Catholicism and even it being alternative history. It was really interesting and I enjoyed reading about how all of this intertwined really well. I really like that it isn't a straight forward retelling as you read on through the story there is a lot of inspiration from Beauty and the Beast.The romance was great. It really drew me even more into the story. I can't wait to see even more of Belle and Aleksander's relationship in The Beauty. It was really swoonworthy and I hope we still more growth to their relationship because it did happen very fast.Fans of A Court of Thorns and Roses will really enjoy this book. This was a great fantasy read that really kicked me out of a reading slump. It is a fantastic debut and I can't wait to read Lindsay Mead's next book.

By Dorky Girl In the land of Glace cursed humans roam the lands in the form of wolf like creatures...Belle doesn't really remember a time when the hunters weren't needed. Large beasts known as hellhounds threaten the people of Glace to the point where hunters are a necessity. Following in the footsteps of her mother and her father Henri who is the head of the hunters Belle has wanted nothing more than to be a hunter and she is good at it. Everything was the normal grind with the hunters until Belle's father Henri decides to go to an inventers fair in another town. Everything was planned out, Henri was to take his own band of hunters with him to help protect against the hellhounds during his travel. Everything should have gone smoothly until Henri's group was attacked and overrun with hellhounds killing all of Heri's group of hunters and making him flee to the nearest place of refuge.Belle followed the tracks in the snow left by her father all the way up to the large gates of a castle. There shouldn't have been people this far out in Glace who weren't cursed but Belle was shocked to find the castle quite crowded with people and they didn't seem to happy to see Belle. The castle takes Belle in on the orders of the Prince allowing her to see her father who was being kept in the dungeon. Seeing that Henri was injured and sick Belle asked to switch places with him which was accepted leading to Henri's freedom. Belle was kept in the dungeon only for a short while to see if she was cursed then she was moved to her own room at the request of the Prince and was fussed over by the staff. Belle was getting comfortable in her new room, then the moon dreams started showing her a handsome Prince with the ability to enter dreams. In the moon dreams Belle quickly learns that the Prince's land was cursed by a woman which turned all of it's population into hellhounds, the only place that was spared was the castle but those within can't leave and the Prince is trapped as well. The Prince needs Belle's help to try and fix his lands as well as to free himself which she gives her service over willingly but Belle can't shake the feeling that she might be falling for this secretive Prince.Is the secretive Prince's secrets to much for Belle or will their love for each other conquer all even the cursed....Thoughts: I love Beauty and the Beast and this retelling was really good and a version that I had been waiting for. I have always pictured the story to be like this so I am very happy that someone has finally taken the picture and made it into something more! I really liked this book and would recommend it to anyone who likes fairy tales but is looking for that special something. My only problem with the book was there were some typing errors but being as this was the author's first novel I just looked over them since the story was still a good one.Quotes:" Death freed Them."" If I never lived another free day in my life, this night would last me till my dying day."" Your love will not be an easy one," Henri said, Though more to himself. A smile dance on her lips as she imagined it. "but it would be grand."" Our love may be new, but one day it will be grand."

So happy for this book to finally come out after months of anticipation. I am a huge fairy tale retelling person This is a retelling of the classic Beauty and The Beast. Beware this isn't your average Disney movie version. Hellhound as the beasts are called in this story has cursed through Glacé. Belle not your typical female was taught how to fight these creatures as an early child after her mother was killed. She was eventually made a hunter by the Catholic Church and made leader by her father of all the hunters being present at any new hunters ceremony. One of those hunters is of course named Gastone. This retelling has everything from the original fairy tale like Belles love of books and her fathers love for machinery which brings a great steampunk genre into the story as well. Of course when an attack by the hounds kills a person from her fathers scouting party and Belle left searching for him finds her way into the Beasts castle. Through books and moon dreams do we figure out the Beasts real identity. This book had me turning pages from the beginning and wanting more after I finished it. Does the curse of the hellhound end and everything becomes happily ever after I'll leave the ending for you to read. Thank you my friend for a wonderful adventure. Can't wait for book 2.

It follows two brothers Jonas and Alan Anderson. These two are lucid dreamers and can travel in the dream world. With a scrambled family history they move because a new oppurtunity has presented itself. But on the way they expirience a tragic event and Jonas must go into the dream world and figure out a solution. With the help of his Dream Walker he sets out on a epic journey that will keep you wanting more.Tom Delonge's vision for the Poet universe has expanded drastically. It is one of the most interesting worlds and stories you will read. It takes everything you love from Star Wars, Harry Potter, Tron, and Blad runner and creates an amazing story. I highly reccomend reading the comic book series that takes place before the book. It gives a better understanding of the characters. But if that doesn't sound like something you would do the book still builds every character individually.Susan Young is one of the most talented authors of our generation. With her descriptions of the world it truly feels like you are watching a movie. This book has non stop intensity from the action sequences to the love story. Everything will make you want to turn the next page and continue reading.This book really is a breath of fresh aire. It is so original and makes you hope this is what every new franchise will do. This is a must read for all sci-fi fans. Or any person who loves a fun unique story. So check it out.

By Benjamin Seeman Poet Anderson… Of Nightmares is the latest installment of a cross-media project written by Tom Delonge and Suzanne Young. I have been a fan of Tom Delonge’s work for over a decade and have particularly enjoyed the Poet Anderson project which has already included an award winning animated short, three comic books, a graphic novel and two albums, The Dream Walker LP and the …Of Nightmares EP which is a companion to the novel. I impatiently awaited the release of the Poet Anderson… Of Nightmares novel and I was not disappointed.The plot is a typical hero’s quest, but what really drew me in was the depth and detail of the world created by Tom Delonge and his creative team. It describes a Dream World, a place where all of us visit when we sleep. Most of us simply wander through the Dream World, unware that we are even dreaming. The Lucid Dreamers are well aware of their dream state and have the ability to control their dreams and, to an extent, change their environment. But there are those in the Dream World who have even greater awareness and even greater abilities.Unbeknownst to most of the Waking World, there is war waging in the Dream World where REM, the epitome of evil and the harbinger of nightmares, strives to not only control the realm in which he exists, but he seeks to enter the Waking World where he can make nightmares real. He and his army of Night Stalkers and Night Terrors consistently battle the Dream Walkers, dreamers who will stop at nothing to put a stop to REMs malevolent ways.Enter Jonas Anderson, an orphan who, like his older brother Alan, are Lucid Dreamers and have enjoyed exploring the Dream World in a very limited capacity. The dialogue between Jonas and his younger companions was appropriately juvenile (he is a high school student, after all) and the manner in which the more grown-up characters spoke effectively contrasted the attitudes of the mature and not so mature characters. The development of Jonas’ relationship with his love interest Sam felt particularly awkward, but then, what teenage romance isn’t awkward?The morals and philosophies of the Dream Walkers, though ultimately benevolent, beg us to ask many questions: How far can you go to stop evil, even if it means sacrificing the lives of the good? How far is too far? It is a devastating war the Dream Walkers are fighting and REM has no objection to killing anyone in his way. But when the Dream Walkers determine that Jonas is the key to their victory and to REMs victory, should Jonas be destroyed for the sake of the rest of the world? It is a very important question that the book poses and it is an obvious reflection of our Waking World. It is a question we should be asking ourselves.I enjoyed this book on all levels… the characters, the story, the highly detailed world. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys science-fiction… from cyberpunk to fantasy, space opera to thrillers… it even appealed to the part of my heart that is still 15 years old. The characters are loveable and loathsome, the story is gripping and the settings is unbelievable. The imagination of Tom Delonge is rich and deep and Suzanne Young did an amazing job putting it on paper for all of us to experience.

The cover is done by an artist by the name of Tom French. Once you get to know the story and the characters the cover is more than an alluring price of art. Remove the dust jacket from the book and in silver letters it simply says, 'A dream is a dream is a dream...' It's a nice touch. In the front flap of the dust jacket it has a synopsis of the book. Giving you more clues on who Poet Anderson is. In the back flap it tells you about both authors. I'm already a fan of Tom but I'm a new fan of Suzanne Young's. It's nice that they name some books of hers, that way I can submerge myself into her world of writing more. I personally, as a painter would of liked to see some info on Tom French. I know he's not a huge contribution to the book but he captivates you to want to pick up the book. The book I bought had a soundtrack to listen to while reading and a poster. For the target audience of young readers, that's a pretty awesome bonus. I would say kids in high school should read this book, I'm waiting for my 12 year old sister gets older before I give her, her copy. Some of subjects in the book, though not graphic, are not appropriate for her.I'm a fan of the preface greatly probably because I'm a fan of Tom Delonge. Tom shares the journey and behind the scenes of how the book project came about. My absolute favorite part about the preface is when he talks that 'feeling', as an artist I like to express myself in my art with what I feel. I look forward to what Tom is working on next. I would of liked to see something from Suzanne.In general it's a young adult fiction book. It has a great balance of good vs evil. It's exciting and holds your attention. You don't want to put it down! Although there were times I would find myself shocked at something that happened I would have to put the book down, covering my mouth with my hand. I would have to immediately pick it back up to see what happened next. It has a little bit of everything; fear, anger, bravery, emotion and love. Romance that starts with a pen. Poet and Sam are definitely soul mates, no you can't even call it that! Lucid mates, dream mates... The girl of his dreams is just a fading reality.The book has infinite realities, leaving it as a perfect platform to keep the story to go on and on. Considering I loved the book and highly recommend it, I find the idea of more poet books exciting. My favorite quote from the book is, "So he kept the deeper parts of himself hidden, a trick he'd learned while bouncing from place to place..." I feel like I can relate to the character. Which makes this book that much greater. He's a lost soul, he has a life where things are out of control but he finds something that he has control over. He learns to face his fears, to discover the hero inside, the hero all of us have in us. I learned from this book that if you master your fears, the power is yours.

16 of 16 people found the following review helpful. Very helpful for emotional child By Lynne Sleiman My 7 year old is using this and she does about 4 pages a day 3 or 4 days a week. She has had difficulty with knowing what to do with her emotions in positive ways in the past and coloring and drawing have helped her so much when she feels overwhelmed. And of course this encorporates school and learning as well. This has a variety of pages where some are "logic games" .. complete the pictures and sequences, coloring page with a blank part where she likes to make up a to do list of her own, and for the book page I often will have her choose one to read to me and one book on cd and two she can pick for me to read to her. There is also a movie page to watch an educational show and write about it or draw pictures from it. Possibly her favorite pages to do are the nature pages where it says to draw a picture from something in nature. Usually running outside to find a leaf or flower is the way she does this.

Smith [[VIDEOID:eadbe1d98100d85a68d4b7fc951d81cd]] Flip through the book video included in this review!My son was actually really excited to start in this journal, which was a surprise to me; he isn't typically a huge fan of many things non-Lego, especially if it involves holding a pencil. However, he actually was choosing different shades of green for leaves, and gray for stones, after dinner the day this arrived. He loved the intricate designs, especially the super intricate pencil drawings where the student then is able to trace a lighter printed version of the same art, on the next page. The actual guided journal prompts fit well with our homeschooling and life goals, and I look forward to having a good record all in one place, instead of scattered in random papers I try to keep up with, as well as having a few new inspirational ideas as well. I loved that there was a place for recording facts and things learned from watching a documentary, all the way to doing a realistic nature study, and 'designing something' with the printed graph paper inside.

It's a nice book size, love that it's spiral bound and all the space for writing and notes. I happened to purchase this particular one because I like the month messages. For the past 2 years I've gotten the Rumi date book. So happy with my purchase!

Wonderful Date Book but No Address Section By sydney engle I have been getting Brush Dance date books for years now and really find them beautiful and very useful! Last year they did away with the address section. I do not know why because it is very important to have an address section in a date book. I am looking at other date books now, trying to find one I like as much as Brush Dance but that has an address section. I would give it a five if they would reinstate the address pages!

My two favorites are: "Jana's Toys' and 'Wonderful World'. In 'Jana's Toys', Uncle Amon stresses the importance of appreciating what you have. Jana wants another toy but her mother tells her that she doesn't play with the ones she has and that she needs to be appreciative. Jana gets motivated when hearing about a local service on the radio that is collecting toys and books for children. And, what a great feeling of satisfaction she has when donating. Immediately following this story is a Just For Fun Activity that tells the little ones the manner in which their toys/books should be sorted and readied for giving away. In the second story 'Wonderful World', Chloe is trying to do an assignment for school. Her teacher asked the students to say what they like about their world. Chloe wants her story to be special but can't think of much outside of her family. Her Dad tells her to think 'outside the box' and she comes up with a delightful idea.A truly delightful book for this time of year when we should be thankful for many things. The little ones should get some really good ideas in this one and be able to express their ideas. There are also some bright and colorful drawings at the beginning of each story.Most highly recommended.

As a transplant to a wine region in Northern Italy I have come to appreciate the back story of the wine and the winemaker in a very different way. Nuances I could never know by simply picking up a bottle at my neighborhood wine shop. The story behind what is in the glass - and, how it made its way there - makes it that much more special. I was especially drawn to the chapters of wine areas I know little about, Patagonia, Syria, even the urban winery in Portland for a different reason. It's where I grew up.I love this line from Chapter 12: "The life a winemaker, in other words, is anything but glamorous." I've come to learn that first hand getting to know the producers in my region. At the heart of it, those making the wine are farmers. With that comes many challenges and it was incredible to see how those play out in difference cultures, from vantage points I never considers. Grazie Mille, Cathy. A Terrific Debut Book About Wine By Mark Spivak Finally: a wine book that is not pompous, boring, or written by someone who believes himself or herself to be the God of the grape.In Hungry for Wine: Seeing the World Through the Lens of a Wine Glass, Cathy Huyghe narrates her journey from wine lover to wine writer in a compelling and human way. The book consists of twelve chapters that focus on wine-related stories from around the globe---people and producers the author has visited and bonded with---and each concludes with a tasting note on a specific wine that relates to that chapter.There are some powerful stories here. The first one, “How to Live Your Wine Life With No Regrets,” tells the tale of a 93 year-old wine collector in West, Cambridge, Mass., who has amassed a formidable cellar over the years. He shares a problem common to many of us: he has become more focused on collecting than drinking. As he gives the narrator a tour of his underground cellar, it becomes clear that most of the great bottles are past their prime and undrinkable. In the act of obsessively waiting for the perfect moment to drink each bottle, the man has denied himself that pleasure. Before going into any diet principle or weight loss program, one should be aware on how the course will run through and how it can benefit them. This book can be a good guide for those people who wants to consider weight loss but doesn't have any idea on how to start. The author, Nicholas Bjorn, provided procedures on how you can start your weight loss program. He provided some tips on how to set your mind as well as to discipline yourself in achieving your ideal weight. The book didn't focus on discussing the exercise routine but it also provides idea on how to deal with your diet. I am planning to trim some weight and this book had been informative for me.

You have to keep up with a consistent exercise regimen along with a diet plan in order to see results and not to be discouraged if you gain some weight during the process because you may actually be gaining muscle which is heavier than fat. It tells about the aspects of different diets and, though it doesn't have specific meal plans, it serves as a guide of what to look into when designing food for your diet and how make health a lifestyle.

Very fun little book -- must-have for any fan By Timaeus I feel like I should preface this review by clarifying: this is NOT a tell-all, ground-breaking, eye-opening book. This book is from the point of Steven (and for a brief time, Garnet) so you shouldn't really expect to read this book and expect for it to reveal any major secrets.That being said, this is a really cute book, that I highly recommend to any fans of the show. The book was written by the show's creator, Rebecca Sugar, so everything in the book is canon. As I mentioned before, the book is written from the point of view of Steven. There are little character pages that talk about each individual character, and Steven's thoughts on their personalities. (Most of it is stuff that a regular viewer already knows, but it's still very interesting.) There are also little details about each fusion that we've seen so far! It's important to note, though, that the book only goes up to the beginning of season 2, so Rainbow Quartz and Sardonyx are not mentioned. There are lots of cute little never-before-seen drawings from Rebecca Sugar inserted into the book.I will say, for those looking for information on gem lore, there are a FEW tidbits in here that are kind of interesting. Some explanations (what Homeworld is like, the nature of corrupted monsters) are vaguely or suspiciously worded, and I'm sure that theorists will have a blast interpreting what they mean.All in all, for less than $10, you can't go wrong. If you're a fan of the show, you'll probably really enjoy this little booklet. And if you're not a fan of the show...I suggest that you watch it! The book spoils a few major season 1 plot points, and you'll enjoy it more if you're surprised!

I'm a fan of the Steven Universe series and this book is so pretty.Guide to the Crystal Gems is funny and written from Steven's point of view.It contains small bio and about for the Crystal gems, Homeworld gems and even fusions! (Sadly Sardonyx is missing).Don't expect any big reveal, it is basically a guide to get to know the gems, If you have seen all the episodes so far you wont be reading any new info but still I really enjoyed it. It is simple and colorful.It comes with screenshots of the show, just a few new art.Hardcover, with hologram over the title that really goes with the themed Steven Universe book.Size is around 8.6 inches tall and 6.5 width. 96 pages.Great for anyone that is interested in the series.

I guess I expected it to be similar to the Gravity Falls companion book, "Dipper and Mabel's Guide to Mystery and Nonstop Fun," which was superb. But this book seems specifically aimed at a very young audience, so if you're an adult hoping for more information on the characters/world, don't get your hopes up. There's really nothing new here that we haven't been told before. It's cute but nothing special.

They liked that she was able to help the homeless. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends & family with children so they can learn selflessness & the safe way to go about it at a young age.

This book shows no matter how old are young are wealthy you are you can make a difference in the world and as well as in your community. This book shows they kids or even you can do anything that you put your mind to. And that was a lesson that I wanted my son to take away from after reading this book.

About the Author Steven grows-up in a small town in Boston, Massachusetts playing with other children in his neighborhood. Steven leads a mostly quiet life spending much of his time devoted to his studies. Steven views himself more as a curious person than as a genius. He was born on July 13, 1975, his father was a machinist and mother Beverly was daughter to a machinist. Steven liked running and climbing but most of all he liked collecting, match box cars, baseball cards, muscle men figures, and pretty much anything else he could get his hands on. Steven grows-up with his two sisters who as mentioned earlier lead a relatively quiet life. Steven at times rebels at home by sneaking out of the house at night to join in the endeavors of locals in the neighborhood. Steven succeeds within University of Phoenix receiving a Bachelor of Science degree graduating with honors. Steven has written 40 total in print books. This is where most of Steven’s authority in writing resides. Through his intense study and writing routine he has become an SME in various domains. He is currently continuing his studies within a terminal master’s degree IO psychology program at SNHU of which he is being conferred during the summer of 2015.

Those with no knowledge of I/O Psychology can use it to learn about the different types of I/O psych as well as careers in the field. Those with prior I/O knowledge won't gain much in regards to concepts in this book, but will learn a bit about directing their own expertise into a specific field of I/O that they find interesting. If you have a spare 30-45 minutes and are interested in I/O, I suggest getting this easy read.
